You hit the Snooze Button and seven or eleven minutes later that same distressing signal peeps out from the machinery again. Your state of disconsciousness musters a mixture of reckoning and rationalization that you could not have achieved when you set the alarm in an alert state: pleading that another seven or eleven just doesn’t add up, a warrant for another half an hour is issued and approved.
But disconsciousness does not add the subtracted Snooze minutes, so only as little as nineteen minutes remain from the moment that extra time is locked in. This fact doesn’t register. Disconsciousness has a different agenda. It sets the alarm for a different time-line.
The distress this will cause later depends on which future you wake up in.
